Pronger for Lupul

The first big trade in this off-season was dealt today when the Ducks traded Joffrey Lupul (along with a prospect (Ladislav Smid) and three draft picks) for Edmonton's Chris Pronger. In my opinion this was a great move to boost our defense and help Scott Niedermayer. Also this'll fill the void in losing Ruslan Salei who signed with the Florida Panthers.

Let the moves continue!!!

2006-2007 will be an awesome year for the Ducks! Great job, Burke!

Season is over... but changes are coming!!!

It was a tough (but well-fought) Western Conference Finals series for our Ducks. Although we didn't move on to the Stanley Cup finals this time around, we had an awesome season with many accomplishments and much to look forward to for next season.

Considering we have a new owner, general manager, coaching staff and a bunch of rookie players, the team had an awesome season. Many records were broken. Most wins, most points. Teemu Selanne got his 1000th point! It's going to be a great 2006-2007 season next year.

Next season, we'll have a new logo, color scheme and possibly a new arena name, too. More changes, but beyond that, more positive changes.

Edmonton goalie, Dwayne Roloson, sure has our number. From the way he looked on Friday and yesterday's game, he'll have a chance to move the Oilers into the Stanley Cup Playoffs in two more games to be held in Edmonton.

Our Ducks are certainly in the hole and with a few adjustments (getting traffic in and around the goal crease, creating "ugly" goals, beating a stingy defense, etc.) they can do it. We've come from behind before...

It Might Be Edmonton

Game 5 in the Edmonton-San Jose series took a turn against the Sharks as the Oilers won, 6-3. Now the series moves on to Edmonton's home ice in game 6 on Wednesday. The winner of this series will meet with the Ducks in the Western Conference Finals.

We're half way there! Eight wins down, eight to go... That's the vision the Ducks currently have as they dominated the Avalanche last night in Denver, 4-1. The Avalanche had a great first period but soon petered out and sputtered at the end.

Now with a well-deserved rest, the Ducks are home waiting to see who they'll play next, San Jose or Edmonton. In that series, the Sharks are up 2-1 with game four tonight in Edmonton.

Loopy over(time) Lupul...

Joffrey Lupul's four-goal game set many records... Most for a Duck in a single playoff game, first playoff hat trick. It was a great OT win for the Ducks who took advantage of a bad pass that was taken advantage of. Also a bit of luck helped the winning goal get in. Brett Clark, on the defense, deflected Lupul's shot and that got Jose Theodore out of position for the five-hole OT winner!!!

Just one more to go and the Ducks are, again, in the Western Conference finals in three years.

Round 2 Domination (So far...)

Who would have thought the Ducks would be up two games to zip against the Avalanche in Round two? Not many for sure... But, that where the Mighty Ducks are at the moment thanks to a great defense and wonderful goaltending from rookie Ilya Bryzgalov. Game three is tonight in Denver! Go Ducks!!!

I'll make this a quick one as I'd like to get some sleep...

The Ducks shutout the Flames 3-0 with goals from Selanne, Salei and Friesen. Excellent goaltending from Ilya Bryzgalav sealed Calgary's fate. Sorry, Iginla... It wasn't your teams' night.

Ducks play Colorado in Game 1 of Round 2 on Friday at the Pond.

The Ducks are in Game 7!!!

Oh, what a game!!! Captain, Scott Niedermayer scored the winning goal in the third period to tie up the first round series with the Flames, three games each.

Knowing this, one team will go home after Game 7; the other will advance to Round 2. The deciding matchup will be tomorrow night (4/3/06) at 6pm PST.

Game Six Tonight...

It'll be an uphill battle against the Flames tonight at the Pond as our Ducks will be facing elimination if offense isn't produced. We didn't look good in Game 5 on Saturday and deserved the loss. Poor Offense/Defense, Poor PP and PK, Jiggy was pulled after giving up three goals on eight shots... You get the picture. Nothing worked for us.

Get out those Fowl Towels tonight. It'll be loud when we pull it off, but awfully quiet if the Flames have it their way. As a fan said at Game 4, "Hey, that #12 guy, Iginla... I hear he's pretty good..." We've got to mark him and his henchmen tonight!!! Go get 'em. It was a record-breaking season (and a regrouping one, too.), but we need to finish them off the best way we can. Go Ducks and we'll see you at the Pond tonight!!!

We're in the Playoffs!!!

With the best franchise record and many broken records during a season, the Ducks are making another trip down the Playoff path. The Calgary Flames will be our first round opponent with the first two games in Calgary. Game one is on Friday, April 21.

Movin' up to 5th in the Western Division

With just eight games left in the regular season, the Mighty Ducks look like a playoff team by manhandling the Vancouver Canucks yesterday at the Pond, 6-2.

Teemu Selanne and Samuel Pahlsson each had two goals in the game and helped move the Ducks into fifth place (90 points) in the Western Conference, just four points behind Nashville in fourth.

As for the "followers", Colorado (88 points, 6th), Vancouver (87, 7th) and Edmonton (86, 8th). "On the bubble" teams include: San Jose (83, 9th) and Los Angeles (83, 10th).

Still holding onto 6th place in the Western Conference

Well, the six-game winning streak came to an end last night as the Colorado Avalanche beat our Ducks 4-3 in Denver.

It's a minor setback, but I'm sure we'll be in a great position for the playoffs!!!

Tonight, we face the Dallas Stars in Dallas then come home to a four-game homestand against Dallas (3/31), Vancouver (4/2), Los Angeles (4/4) and Dallas (4/6).

This will be followed by our last road trip to Los Angeles (4/8), Vancouver (4/10), Calgary (4/11), Edmonton (4/13) and San Jose (4/15).

Our final game will be at home against Calgary on 4/17/06.

We'll see you guys in the playoffs!!!

Ducks Win With An OT Penalty Shot!!!

What an awesome game! It came to overtime in this come-from-behind victory for the Mighty Ducks. They were down by three goals twice in this game when Jonathan Hedstrom wristed a penalty shot five-hole past Colorado's rookie goaltender Peter Budaj last night at the Anaheim Pond.

The Ducks are currently in 6th place, just one point behind the Avalanche in the Western Conference standings. It's a tight race with just a few weeks to go in the season! Five points separate 5th through 10th in the West.

Trade Deadline Transactions

Wow!!! What a day of activity for the Ducks!!! Here are the major guys we traded and who we got in a nutshell:

Sandis Ozolinsh went to the New York Rangers for a 2006 third-round draft pick.

Keith Carney went to Vancouver Canucks for Brett Skinner and a 2006 second-round draft pick.

We received Jeff Friesen from the Washington Capitals for a 2006 second-round pick and obtained defenseman Sean O'Donnell from the Phoenix Coyotes for minor league center Joel Perrault.

I would have to say that these were interesting trades. Veterans for younger players, loss of two blueliners for a defender and LW. It's hard to say how this will affect our run into the playoffs. Only time will tell.

As of this print, it contains footage of their recent State of the Franchise discussion from January 29, 2006. Included in the discussion is a full question and answer session with General Manager Brian Burke, Head Coach Randy Carlyle, Captain Scott Niedermayer and hosted by Ducks TV broadcaster John Ahlers.

Gold and Silver In Anaheim!!!

Samuel Pahlsson and Teemu Selanne will be bringing to Anaheim their gold and silver medals! Sweden defeated Finland in an exciting gold medal game, 3-2. Great job, guys! Your fans are extremely proud of you for competing and representing your countries in the best way possible. You have great heart and dedication to the game of hockey and were rewarded for your strong efforts.
